Eva Mendes to launch bedding line (!), would love to work with Cameron Diaz and appear on Extras

While “designing” clothes and fragrances is pretty common among celebrities these days, sexy actress Eva Mendes (Cleaner) is set to become perhaps the first with a line of bedsheets and pillowcases, something she’s apparently wanted to do for a long time.

“I’m a big interior design fan and architecture buff, that’s one of my passions. If I wasn’t an actress, I’d be an interior designer. I’m not smart enough to be an architect. We’re starting off with bedding and we’re seeing how the public responds to it… It’s very very affordable. I love sleeping… If there was an Olympics for it, I’d take the gold. I’m Cuban; we love to sleep.”

Okaaay…. Named “Vida”, the line will be available in Macy’s stores by the end of the month.

In related news, the actress has revealed she is desperate to star in a movie with Cameron Diaz (What Happens In Vegas), as the two are best friends, along with Lucy Liu (Rise). Sign me up for the male lead and I’m so there! The two did appear together in two episodes of Diaz’s short-lived eco reality show Trippin’.

“I am dying to work with Cameron. She is just a really good person and I would love, love, love to work with her.”

Maybe Diaz can land her a part in Shrek Goes Fourth?

Finally the poor girl can’t get a clue and is still trying to guest star in Ricky Gervais’ hit show Extras, despite being turned down. Her argument? She’s really famous in the US apparently.

“It’s one of my favourite shows ever and they turned me down. I was like, guys, you don’t understand I am quite a big deal in the States, and I don’t go on TV shows, but I really want to go on your show.

“I love Ricky Gervais, I love British humour – it’s my kind of humour, but they won’t have me.”

Of course this isn’t surprising as Eva Mendes’ ego is bigger than Russia (ever heard of that Starbucks story?).

You can next catch Mendes in The Women, which premieres in the US and the UK on September 12th.
