Witness a Miracle At St. Anna in five days!

Do you live in or near Paris, the city of lights itself? If so, you can be among the first few to view Inside Man director Spike Lee’s latest film, the World War 2 drama Miracle At St. Anna, which premieres today at the Toronto Film Festival.

The anticipated film will screen as part of a mini Spike Lee festival organized by the Cinémathèque Française. Go here to buy seats while you still can!

Miracle At St. Anna tells the story, through flashback, of four African-American “Buffalo Soldiers” who are trapped behind enemy lines in 1944 Tuscany, after one of them saved an Italian boy. It stars Derek Luke (Definitely, Maybe), John Turturro (You Don’t Mess With The Zohan), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Stop-Loss), John Leguizamo (The Happening) and Kerry Washington (the Fantastic Four films) among others. Author James McBride wrote the script based on his own novel. Trailer after the jump.

WTF? Ghost Rider to tour Europe, Da Vinci Code style!

While promoting his latest movie Bangkok Dangerous, Nicolas Cage also offered some updates on the status of cursed motorcylce-riding demon hunter sequel Ghost Rider 2:

“Yes, actually, had a nice meeting with the studio about 3-months ago,” Cage told Coming Soon, “and we talked about going international with that character. Taking him into Europe, having him go on a motorcycle tour through Europe, and he’s connected with the church, if you can believe that. So it sort of has elements to it that are very much in the zeitgeist, with The Da Vinci Code and things like that.”

I’m not too familiar with the comic book, but this sounds pretty weird. But hey, if they can make it work, why not? Ghost Rider is viewed by many (including myself) as being one of the worst comic book movies ever and was critically bashed senseless upon its release in early 2007, but that didn’t stop it from making a lot of dough.

I actually think that the character has a lot of potential and that the concept behind the first movie was very interesting, only poorly executed, and horribly acted by most (except Cage), so I’m willing to give the sequel a chance, hoping it will significantly improve from the original, like Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

Depending on where you live, you can check out Bangkok Dangerous right now in theaters. Ghost Rider 2 is expected to roll out in 2009 (is that possible?). No word on whether sexpot Eva Mendes will be back for another awful performance as Ghost Rider’s love interest Roxanne.
