Comic Book Movies: Villains, Preacher & Agnes Quill

Sam Mendes (Jarhead) will direct the adaptation of Preacher, which has been gestating in what seems like forever.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, “Preacher,” which ran from 1995-2000, told the story of a down-and-out Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity conceived by the unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon.

Given immense powers, the preacher teamed with an old girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire and set out on a journey across America to find God — who apparently had abandoned his duties in heaven — and hold him accountable for his negligence.

Relative newcomer Thor Freudenthal will helm an adaptation of Agnes Quill: An Anthology Of Mystery, the story of a teenage detective, the haunted city she lives in, the strange cases she solves, and the ghosts who help, hinder, or just plain annoy her, according to book’s official plot synopsis. Finally, Universal Pictures has hired newcomers Matt Jennison & Brent Strickland to adapt the comic book Villains. The story tells of a young guy who discovers that his old neighbor was once a notrious supervillain and decides to blackmail him into giving him crime lessons. Source.

Cameron Diaz has heart of gold, will take care of your dog

Eco-friendly actress Cameron Diaz (What Happens In Vegas) is apparently also animal-friendly. The 35 year old blonde airhead took in an injured lost dog over this weekend, and reunited him with his owner, even going to the trouble of later visiting the pet at the vet’s.

Diaz, despite being one of America’s highest paid actresses, is believed by many to be one of the least deserving, most untalented, annoying and ugly A-list actress out there, with people nicknaming her “Pizzaface”, “Joker smile”, or simply “hag”, but I on the contrary think she’s a knockout and one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. So, what does that say about me? All I know is I’m glad her heart matches her looks (or according to some people, transcends them).

Cameron Diaz will next be seen alongside James Marsden (27 Dresses) and Frank Langella (Superman Returns) in the science-fiction thriller The Box, written & directed by Richard Kelly (Southland Tales) and based on a short story by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend).
