New Trailer & Poster: Bride Wars

I was somewhat reserved about Bride Warsfirst trailer, and while this one still doesn’t make the film look that good, I still feel it’s a slight improvement and it certainly looks a whole lot better then Confessions Of A Shopaholic. As for the poster, it showcases the two leading beauties but hopefully this isn’t the final one-sheet. Bride Wars will premiere in the US on January 9th, 2009. Tell me what you think in the comments.

Bride Wars tells the story of two best friends portrayed by Kate Hudson (Fool’s Gold) and Anne Hathaway (Passengers) who become bitter rivals when they accidentally schedule their respective weddings the same day. The film co-stars Candice Bergen (ABC’s Boston Legal), Bryan Greenberg (ABC’s October Road) and Chris Pratt (Wanted). It is directed by Gary Winick (Charlotte’s Web) and was written by Greg DePaul (Saving Silverman), and relative newcomers June Raphael & Casey Wilson.

Mother And Child and lots of Mexican dudes

The holy trinity of internationally known Mexican directors, aka Alfonso Cuarón (Children Of Men), Guillermo Del Toro (the Hellboy films) and Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel) will produce Mother And Child, a new ensemble drama from Colombian filmmaker Rodrigo García (Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her), who also wrote the script.

The $4.5 million project, produced with Mockingbird Pictures president Julie Lynn, follows the intersecting lives of a 50-year-old woman, the daughter she gave up for adoption 35 years ago and a black woman looking to adopt a baby.

Set to begin a Los Angeles shoot in late December or January, the film continues Garcia’s examination of female characters found in his dramas “Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her” and “Nine Lives.”

In the meantime Garcia’s latest film, the intriguing supernatural thriller Passengers (see the trailer), currently watchable in Greece, Spain and Iceland, will open in the US on October 24th, in the UK on November 28th and in Australia on December 4th.

New Trailer: Passengers

Passengers is a supernatural thriller directed by Rodrigo García (Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her) and written by Ronnie Christensen (10.5). It stars Anne Hathaway (Get Smart), Patrick Wilson (Lakeview Terrace), Clea DuVall (The Grudge), David Morse (Disturbia), Dianne Wiest (Dan In Real Life) and Andre Braugher (The Andromeda Strain) among others.

It tells the story of Claire, a young therapist who’s assigned to a group of plane crash survivors, when weird stuff starts happening. I think it looks pretty cool, but the supernatural thriller genre has provided many disappointments, especially when the time comes to explain stuff. The film will come out in the US on October 24th but people in Greece and Spain can already go see it. If any of you already have, please share your thoughts in the comments.
