The Return Of Xander Cage?!

Action star Vin Diesel (read why you should give his latest movie Babylon A.D. a second chance here) definitely has comeback on his mind. After returning for the fourth Fast & Furious movie and stating his confidence in making the Riddick sequels, Vin is currently in talks to return to his third franchise in xXx 3: The Return Of Xander Cage. The film will be directed by original helmer Rob Cohen (The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor).

The question now is, how will this sequel work? In the 2005 flop xXx: State Of The Union, also known as xXx²: The Next Level, which didn’t feature Vin’s involvement, Xander Cage was revealed to have been (SPOILER ALERT) killed during his Bora Bora holiday at the end of the first film. I’m sure they’ll figure something out so the actual real question is: are you excited for xXx 3 with Vin Diesel? Ice Cube cameo anyone?

Riddick sequels still planned, may be filmed together

Writer/Director David Twohy is hard at work on those last two Riddick movies, according to star Vin Diesel. The actor, currently starring in Babylon A.D., is pretty confident the sequels will get made and wonders whether the movies will be filmed at the same time.

Richard B. Riddick was Vin Diesel’s first big action character, and first appeared in the 2000 science-fiction film Pitch Black. The character was revisited in 2004 with The Chronicles Of Riddick, which was meant to lead into two more films. Chronicles however, which is viewed by most as an ambitious but flawed film, was a huge flop at the box-office, and left people thinking the planned sequels would never get made.

Thankfully, Vin Diesel never gave up on the character, and it’s good to know that he’s still gunning for the franchise. The last two movies will reportedly deal with the Underverse and a return to Furya (Riddick’s home planet) respectively. The franchise also includes a short animated film, Dark Fury, and a video game for the Xbox and PC, Escape From Butcher’s Bay, both of which featured involvment by Twohy and Diesel.

David Twohy’s next film, a thriller entitled A Perfect Getaway, stars Timothy Olyphant (Hitman), Milla Jovovich (the Resident Evil films) and Steve Zahn (Sahara), will be released in 2009.
